Playoffs home factor in friendly cups

Post by jaluis »

Hi to all,

As probably everyone has experienced in playoffs of friendly cups (specially in those with very identical teams playing each other), the home team has a big advantage over his opponent, just because he had the luck to play at home.

If we are playing a friendly cup just for fun, it´s ok. But if the prize money is big or if the friendly cup is played for a big tournament (like some national cups like romanian, Ponziani,etc...), it would be fair that there wasn´t home factor in the playoffs.

Getting out the home factor would mean that we are playing the playoff in a neutral field (like IRL), so the home team (that I remind, only is home team beacause of luck) wouldn´t have advantage over the other one.

What I propose is that the organizer of friendly cup could decide if home factor is taken in account in playoffs or not.

What do you think ?

What happens with same ratings?
The rating dosnt mean who is the best team.
Why would be fair to give the home factor to a team with lower rating?
So at the semifinals it should be that too? Why dont we play in a neutral stadium?LOL
In my opinion is just like the league, you can choose the day in wich you want to play vs "rival".
Get used too, it's all about luck...your young, games, calendar...its all random

Don´t get confused... I never said that "would be fair to give the home factor to a team with lower rating"... on the opposite... I agree with you that neutral field would be a better solution...That´s why I propose the home factor to be optional....

It´d be cup organizer choice to have or not home factor in the play-offs...none will be forced to have no home factor...

so lets wait the admin decision
Also it would be good to make games in neutral stadium as the cup final. That would bring more attendane in a bigger stadium and no home factor

I like the idea Jaluis... In that way everyone is happy.

Then you can choose to play in a cup with or without home advantage , there will be a choice for everyone and no one will be disadvantaged.

Nice...:P
