Obviously in football, especially the bigger leagues, there is an influx of foreign players. But instead of using football rosters, why not use a roster from (for example) the Olympics, or Parliament/government? These aren't prefect, but might be more representative.

Just looking at GB in recent Olympics, there are some "immigrant names" such as Ohuruogu or Amir Khan, but the remaining names are quite "normal" British names. From government, here is just one list:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPs_electe ... tion,_2005 again, an abundance of "british names", but also containing names of other ethnicities: Singh, Malik, Sarwar, Afriyie, Kawczynski...
Personally I would look at local newspapers for names and also things (as you suggested) like MP's, CEOs etc.

There's nothing wrong in having a national youth coach raise players with non-national names. SImply because the national database contains names of foregin players.

But when it comes right down to it - at least in Denmark - a lot of danes have names just as strange as those of the forign players. So I don't see a problem.

I was just wondering if the database needed an update 'cause it sure looks like the danish names are about 2-3 years old.

PS: there are systematic sources for all player names which a range of soccer ims use to get the names automatically, but it costs money and in that sense is probably not an option.

Well Raz as the United Kingdom has 4 seperate football teams and this is a football game i think that in itself justifies each state in the United Kingdom having its own flag. We might as well have the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and heck why not have the British Empire with Australia and Canada just being took away from game and put with Britain. I don't really believe that but for example Soviet Union don't have a football team, neither do Britain.

I understand Yugoslavia has split up and Britain hasnt but they gave each country of Yugoslavia a flag after their break up as they have independant football federations yet British countries don't get their own flags despite their being a English football federation, a Welsh, a Scottish etc. I mean when countries like the Vatacan ( spelt wrong sorry ) have a flag despite not playing a international match ( To my knowledge ) then its crazy when a former world up winner England doesnt even get one.

atleti, as I explained on another topic you opened with the same proposal
Razvanica wrote:I didn't notice that until now. It's just weird not having Scotland or Ireland but having Vatican or Heard Island and McDonald Islands.
But on the same topic, Ze da Silva pointed out this:
Ze wrote:The point of having nations in the first place is that you must choose your nationality upon registering. That is not the same as "which national team would you be eligible to play for if you were a footballer". There is no FIFA in SP. What would surely make no sense would be to have two weights and two measures regarding your own personal nationality and your players'.

So the criteria used was that to be listed a territory (country or dependency) had to be a member of either the United Nations or one of their specialised agencies. Which opens the door for Antarctica and other uninhabited territories and closes it for England and such
I totally understood this and I don't see the point on insisting on the UK stuff. Now you just make it worse comparing it with Yugoslavia and with the Soviet Union, two situations that you clearly don't know.

Wtf since when was Great Britain a nationality? Ze contradicts himself - you choose the nationality that you are, in this case Atleti would choose to be English as the UK is not a nationality. I really do not see why SP cannot have England as a choice - it's not as if they'd be persecuted to include it. AFAIK there is no rule that SP and Sjarel are abiding to to exclude England. This is making more people upset than happy so there really is no reason not to include England; it would make people happy and put this topic to rest.

But If you change the system and have the U.K split up...that means I'll have to change my Team's Nationality as I come from Northern Ireland, and I don't wanna have a bunch of crap Northern Ireland players!

cruxify, I don't really care about this, but I am pretty sure that people living on that island have British nationality.

You don't care yet you more or less agreed that it's important for the realism of the game in the aforementioned topic you linked.
