Effective Assistant Managers

Is it possible that the assistant managers could actually pick the best possible players in unfilled possitions for your league matches? It's not something that effects me often, as I try to log before each match, but occasionally it can ruin games. For example, today I had a match against the no1 team in the league, and I selected my best squad. But, on the 10pm simulation before the match, my LM got injured in training, and instead of replacing him in my lineup with my second best LM, whos only a few GR lower and decent moral, he put in a GR 50% youth who only has 38% moral. I lost the match 1-0, which has effectively cost me promotion, as had I managed atleast a draw, i'd still be 2nd, and should win my last game (as should the team that are now 2nd ahead of me).
Don't take this as me moaning, just would like to see something done about it in future?!?

takes charge when you go into holiday mode and selects the "next" best player.

Exactly my point. The Assistant Manager is suppose to select the next-best player, but he doesn't, and thats something I think needs to be sorted. Friendlies don't matter, I'd rather he picked the fittest and most unhappy players for that, but for league games, it's essential that the best replacement is made.

you lose morale then though! would rather keep my players happy and let his contract run down!
