A Rant about Aggression Changes (With a Suggestion or 2)
These new changes to aggression seem a bit much to me. During the last league game I played, with aggression set to 50 for both teams and a ref with a strictness of 84, we combined for 12 cards. And my players mostly do not have high aggression.
The season has barely started and I've already got 4 players ineligible for league play due to suspensions.
How many times IRL do you see 12 cards in a match? That should be an extreme. A strict ref with 2 highly aggressive teams who have aggression set to 80 or 90... OK. But not during a typical game with typical settings.
Hell, I thought the card rate was too high BEFORE the changes this season. I think the card rate could be cut in half, arbitrarily, and be more realistic.
Or at least have a secondary aggression setting... a guy that has a yellow card in a game is probably going to play more cautiously than someone who does not. Have the secondary setting be applied to a player who has a card.
I worry that this game is becoming too dependant on things like aggression and teamspirit and not looking enough at strategy and the quality of the players on the pitch. Yeah, of course things like teamspirit and aggressiveness should have an impact and create upsets once in a while. But they should not allow a weak team to consistently beat the crap out of a stronger team.

i've got the same problem as you paul. i've already got 2 suspensions too. i think that the changes are too much. aggression does not make you get cards, but it doesn't help. alan shearer was always aggressive but not always sent off. if shearer had played in sp he'd been suspended every other league game.
i don't want to lower my team aggression either. guess i'll also need 35 players from now on!

there are no problem - lower your team agression.Paul_G wrote:These new changes to aggression seem a bit much to me. ref strictness + team agression should be below 100 !
you say: "How many times IRL do you see 12 cards in a match?"
i say: if there are really nasty fight on the field and normal referee, then there are a lot of cards (even 12) - seen that.

south america???modes98's revenge wrote:lol in england the yellow card count is rarely above 7 never mind 10. I can see why it would be high in south america but still card levels are high

but if you understood what i wanted to say.. i ment that IRL players don't play so agressive like Paul_G "command" them to play (that 50% at strictness of 84).

Less like football more like boxing and rugby combined!elari wrote:south america???![]()
I have noticed that my agression levels for matches sometimes reset themselves back to my set level in tactics. For instance the last frc game i played it reverted back to 50% even though i had set them all at below 25% today.

I understand what you're saying. But players don't play at 50% aggression IRL? It's not exactly buck wild. 50% is (or should be) the average setting. It's the default setting, right? So a typical game would ordinarily have players at 50%.elari wrote: but if you understood what i wanted to say.. i ment that IRL players don't play so agressive like Paul_G "command" them to play (that 50% at strictness of 84).
In my example game the ref was strict. So even though it was an ordinary setting, I can see the teams getting 3 or 4 yellow cards. But 12? What would have happened if the aggression was set to 100? Would we have combined for 24 cards? And bear in mind I got rid of a lot of my more aggressive players when I heard about the upcoming change, so most of my lineup has aggression levels of 40 or lower... what if I hadn't gotten rid of such players?

One day I'm gonna play a friendly game with my youths, and have a referee with strictness in the 90's and I'll set my aggression to 100... just to see how ludicrous it will get. I bet I'll end such a game with 6 men on the field
